At the end of 2016 began this project to retake the Proust Questionnaire. Raquel proposes to different people around the books and culture answer this interview that I illustrate. To read what our second interviewee has answered you will have to wait a little longer. Here I bring you the process of this second illustration, is submitted to the questionnaire: Marina Sanmartín.
A finales de 2016 comenzaba este proyecto de retomar el Cuestionario Proust, en donde ilustro las entrevistas que Raquel publica en su blog. Para leer lo que nuestra segunda entrevistada ha respondido tendrás que esperar un poco más. Aquí te acerco el proceso de esta segunda ilustración, se somete al cuestionario: Marina Sanmartín.
When Raquel contacted me I did not meet Marina yet, who interested in the project from the beginning. Also, she shared the first sketches on her social media. Thank you very much, Marina, for your support, your illusion and diffusion.
I’ve enjoyed a lot in the process, which became, in a way, in a challenge. Every sketch made me feel that I was getting a little closer to what I still did not know how it was, but when I saw it, I knew I had found it.
Cuando Raquel se puso en contacto conmigo aún no conocía a Marina, que desde los primeros bocetos nos difundió en sus redes y se interesó por el proyecto. Marina muchísimas gracias por tu apoyo, tu ilusión y difusión.
Me he divertido mucho en el proceso, que se convirtió, de alguna manera, en un reto. Cada boceto me hacía sentir que me acercaba un poco más a eso que, aún no sabía cómo era, pero que cuando lo tuve delante supe lo había encontrado.

Marina, es valenciana de nacimiento y madrileña de esas de tantos a los que la ciudad les llama, atrapa y adopta. Puedes curiosear sobre ella en su blog, la fallera cósmica, en esta entrevista y el 17 de marzo en La lectora de Germantes, en Zenda Libros. Nos hará mucha ilusión a las tres verte por allí.
For the Puño’s illustration, I followed my usual process. First I have an idea, the I document, I produce a brainstorming, followed by the sketching process, the proofing and develop the final artwork. On this occasion I was quite lost, then I relied on the photos, trying to get closer to the person behind the image, drawing Marina, little by little, her features were me more familiar to me, and I could imagine her.
Para la ilustración de Puño, tenía una idea y seguí el proceso al que estoy habituada: documentación, lluvia de ideas, boceto, pruebas y arte final. En esta ocasión, como mencionaba más arriba, me basé en las fotos, en tratar de acercarme al personaje desde la imagen, estaba bastante perdida, así que decidí dibujar a Marina, poco a poco, hasta que sus rasgos se me hicieron familiares, y pude imaginarla.
These sketches, the interview and her answers to the Proust Questionnaire, were the background to start to work. Here I’m letting myself go, trying things I’ve learned with Susana and from all that process came the magic, I did some experiments until I reach, step by step, the final art.
Con esos bocetos, la entrevista y sus respuestas para el Questionario Proust en la mochila decidí trabajar dejándome llevar, probando cosas que aprendí con Susana y de todo ese proceso surgió la magia, hice varias pruebas, hasta acercarme al arte final siguiendo las pesquisas, esto sí funciona, esto no, sigue probando…
I have enjoyed a lot and I feel that can be seeing. I shared some sketches on Instagram with no more objective than sharing that path and fell the illusion and response of Marina, Raquel and you, thanks to all. This way of working requires stop try to control everything. This way is exciting, interesting and free. Work by this system makes me feel fearful (although nice people that I admire says that we need to shake the fear hands and walk the path to his side).
I discover new paths, learn, grow… I feel butterflies while I wait for the second delivery of the Proust Questionnaire, on March 17th, here.
Ha sido un trabajo que he disfrutado mucho y siento que eso se nota. Fui subiendo los bocetos a redes sociales sin más objetivo que compartir ese camino, y encontrarme con la ilusión y respuesta de Marina y Raquel me animó. Esta manera de trabajar requiere que deje de intentar controlar todo, un trabajo mucho más visceral y para mi interesante, aún siento miedo (aunque gente maja a la que admiro dice que lo más sensato es darle la mano y recorrer el camino a su lado).
Descubrir nuevos caminos, aprender, crecer… Siento mariposillas mientras espero la segunda entrega del Cuestionario Proust, el 17 de marzo, las tres te esperamos allí.
